Arya-Shriya starrer Chikku Bukku, produced by Media One Global Entertainment, is finally in theatres. The film, directed by Manikandan (who assisted late director Jeeva.), also marks the on screen debut of Preetika (sister of Amrita Rao) in a prominent role. Many thought that the film may be a triangular love story as it has two heroines, but the director has come up with a new twist. Earlier the director has promised that the film would be a never-before attempt and a new concept in Tamil film industry. He has shot a major part of the film in Austria, the first time a Tamil film is being shot there. Interestingly for the first time in his career, Arya plays dual roles on screen!

What is in it?

Chikku Bukku narrates two stories simultaneously; Sekhar is an aspiring police officer in the 1980's and Arjun (Sekhar's son), a stylish DJ born and brought up in London. And obviously there are two love stories, narrated in flashbacks, in the film.

Arjun (Arya, stylish and super cool), DJ cum engineer, lives a carefree life with his grandmother in London. Anu (Shriya Saran) is a bubbly girl doing her higher studies in London. On a fine day, both Arjun and Anu decide to visit Karaikudi for personal reasons. When they reach Bangalore, they find that all the flights to Tamil Nadu have been canceled due to technical problems. So the duo decides to go by train, that too on fake tickets. And their Chikku Bukku journey begins there!!!

Unfortunately, the TTE finds out about the fake ticket and asks them to get down midway in a remote village. So how will they reach Karaikudi? The rest of the story is about their interesting journey and of course, the beginning of their love story.

There is one more story (that of Arjun's father) narrated in flashbacks. Interestingly, Arjun learns Sekhar's story from an old diary. Sekhar (Arya, dressed in 80's style), an aspiring police officer, comes to his village (near Karaikudi) after a long gap to celebrate his grandparents' (Ravichandran and Sukumari) 60th wedding anniversary. Shekar belongs to an orthodox joint family. Here he meets Meenaal (Preetika Rao), educated daughter of the village's school headmaster.

When Sekhar expresses his wish to marry Meenaal, his family refuses, so he decides to go away from his family forever. Before leaving the village Sekhar asks Meenaal to come with him, but considering her father's pride, she refuses. Will they ever meet again? Watch out Chikku Bukku, which also has a main twist in the climax!!

The Performances

For the first time, Arya is seen in a dual avatar on screen and he succeeds in both. Arya has portrayed the role of 'simple' Sekhar and 'stylish' Arjun with equal importance. Arya's dialogue delivery has a unique style and there is no denying the fact that he is one of the most promising actors in Kollywood today. However Chikku Bukku cannot be considered as his best because we have already seen his potential.

Shriya Saran looks very pretty with her curly hair and bubbly nature. But in many scenes the lip syncs goes missing, which makes it very artificial. Preetika Rao looks good in traditional attire and has done a pretty decent job in her first outing. Though Santhanam appears only in a few scenes, he provides the much needed comedy relief. The rest of the cast are ok as they don't have much to perform.

The Technicians

As director Manikandan rightly said, Chikku Bukku is a travelogue which begins in London and ends in Karaikudi. The idea of narrating two stories simultaneously with flashbacks is highly appreciable. However there are continuity problems in many scenes. The film has a very elegant and breezy first half where all the four main characters are established but the second half is predictable and clichéd. Music by Colonial Cousins (Hariharan-Leslie Lewis) and Pravin Mani is good, but the songs comes as speed breakers at many places. Cinematography by R.B. Gurudhev is elegant but editing (especially the first half) could have been better. The second half needs urgent trimming to increase the pace of the film.

Arya's costume as a modern DJ is stylish and appealing but the usage of sherwanis and lehangis during the 80's era (that too in a village near Karaikudi) is unacceptable. Shriya Saran has undergone a complete image makeover; she looks very different and beautiful in this new avatar. Newcomer Preetika Rao (look alike of Amrita Rao) is good but we wonder why the director cast her as a village belle!

Overall if you are looking for some good weekend entertainment, then Chikku Bukku is the right choice!

Raja ducks behind Karunanidhi

Besieged Union Telecom Minister A. Raja was on Friday forced to take refuge behind DMK supremo and Tamil Nadu chief minister M. Karunanidhi's assertions that he was not guilty after the Opposition gunned for his resignation in Parliament.

Defiant Raja digs heels in after chief's backing.
It took an offer from AIADMK chief J. Jayalalithaa to the UPA to rattle Karunanidhi and compel him to break his silence over L'affaire Raja, who has been implicated by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India for causing the nation a loss of nearly Rs 1.7 lakh crore in the 2G spectrum allotment process.

"Raja is not guilty," the DMK patriarch pronounced in Chennai.

But it may not be so easy for the DMK, which has been defying calls for Raja's resignation from even within the UPA government. Soon after his return late last night from the G-20 summit in Seoul, South Korea, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said without being too definitive, "We are in an alliance with the DMK, and that stands as of now. The Congress high command will take note of Jayalalithaa's offer."

The DMK, however, feels that easing out the Dalit poster boy from the cabinet at this juncture -- the state Assembly elections are expected to be held in April 2011 -- would be as good as capitulating to Jayalalithaa's charges. Karunanidhi ruled out any further discussions with the Congress and bluntly claimed that all that his nominee did was right. But this could be a double-edged sword as Raja's refusal to quit gives the AIADMK a strong campaign issue on a platter.

Unmindful of that, Karunanidhi launched into a tirade against the Opposition saying the NDA government under Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee was not above board. "Tenders were not called for either by Pramod Mahajan or by Arun Shourie when they were telecom ministers," he said. "The same procedure followed by them has been adhered to in the 2G spectrum allotment as well. The first-come-first-served basis has been the practice and no one has been given the allocation in an unfair manner."

This put Congressmen who were earlier gunning for the telecom minister's head in a spot. On Friday, some Congress leaders defended the embattled Raja by taking the same line as DMK and attacking the BJP. They also fear that a tainted DMK could be better than an untrustworthy Jayalalithaa who has, in the past, pulled the rug under Central governments. Besides, the party fears that if Raja goes, he might take down some Congressmen with him.

Law minister M. Veerappa Moily said the CAG report on 2G spectrum allocation cannot be termed as an indictment of Raja. Congress spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed said, "The matter is subjudice and the CAG report is yet to be tabled in the House." He also said that the Congress has told Jayalalithaa that there are no vacancies in the UPA. "We have closed the door," he said.

Moily said once the report is tabled in Parliament, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) would select a particular paragraph in the report for discussion and then it becomes the right of a particular ministry to reply. At present the PAC is headed by senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi. "You cannot call it an indictment," Moily said. "It is not a final report." He added that while the CAG report carries weight, he said he does not remember any minister stepping down following an adverse CAG report.

One Congress general secretary said the BJP should first allow a discussion in the House. "Why are they shying away from discussion," he asked. "Raja can be hanged if he is guilty, but wait for the Supreme Court hearing on Monday." Later, party sources said the BJP may shy away from discussion on the 2G spectrum allotment scam fearing its own leaders -- specifically Shourie and the late Mahajan -- may be dragged into it.

Both the Congress and the UPA government may explore options such as ordering a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the scam, a consistent demand of the Opposition.

Meanwhile, in Chennai, Karunanidhi was dismissive of the CAG's findings. "The CAG report is not the final word on the issue," he said. "The CAG can criticise anyone. We can tender an opinion only after the report has come out in full," he said.

Despite the DMK bravado, party sources in Chennai asserted that Jayalalithaa's offer of support has rattled the DMK top brass. In public, though, Karunanidhi remained defiant, saying that the "Congress itself has said that that its doors are shut for Jayalalithaa." But that did not deter the AIADMK which reiterated its support to the Congress in the scenario where DMK pulls out of the UPA and puts the coalition government in peril. "Our offer of support stands. Now, it is up to the Congress," said Dr V. Maitreyan, an AIADMK MP. Political commentator and saffron ideologue Cho Ramaswamy said the Congress may be playing a deeper game in this case. "It is not only Raja or the DMK alone, but also someone else who is being protected. That is the reason the Congress is unwilling to act and has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court saying Raja is not to be blamed," he said.

Sources said the Congress has not given up hope that, eventually, the DMK boss would come around and continue to support the UPA even after he agrees to Raja's sacking. "Our party wants to maintain its high moral pedestal after sacking tainted party leaders such as Ashok Chavan and Suresh Kalmadi recently," a Congress leader said.

The Congress brass, including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi, finance minister Pranab Mukherjee (who met with Kanimozhi on Thursday), home minister P. Chidambaram, defence minister A. K. Antony and Ahmed Patel, Gandhi's political secretary, is expected to meet on Saturday to discuss the 2G controversy.

PM blames law ministry for his 2G inaction in affidavit to SC

A beleaguered Prime Minister on Saturday blamed his legal advisers for not taking any decision on allowing the prosecution of then telecom minister A. Raja for his alleged role in the 2G scam.

Manmohan Singh rebutted the Opposition's charge that he was a silent spectator to the 2G spectrum allocation process, while his team pointed fingers at the law ministry for the inaction on the request for the grant of allowing the minister's prosecution.

In an affidavit filed on behalf of the PM, V. Vidyavati, a director in the PMO, pointed to a routine movement of files right from the day Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy's letter dated November 29, 2008 was read by Dr Singh on December 1, 2008. However, the affidavit virtually skirts the issue of inaction.

The only excuse for not taking any decision on Swamy's plea is apparently a belated legal advice from the law ministry suggesting that a decision to accord sanction may be taken after perusal of evidence collected by the CBI - which had registered an FIR in the matter 11 months after Swamy sought sanction to file a case against Raja.

In the affidavit, the Prime Minister says at the very outset: "I am making this affidavit only for the purpose of showing how the various letters received from the petitioner (Swamy) have been duly considered." Though Swamy has been contending that the Prime Minister was bound to decide a request for sanction within three months according to a Supreme Court ruling, the affidavit shows that the file kept moving back and forth for six months until the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) referred the matter to the law ministry on May 29, 2009, for legal advice.

The legal advice was sought well before the CBI registered a case in the scam on October 21, 2009, against unknown persons, but the PMO received a formal response from the law ministry after over eight months on February 8, 2010.

Law minister M. Veerappa Moily approved the advice on January 26, 2010. The only excuse for the delay in giving legal advice seems to be the fact that on June 8, 2009, the law ministry stated that it had called for the views of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to examine the matter in the "right perspective". Interestingly, the PMO had already referred the matter to the DoT on March 24, 2009, over two months before it was referred to the law ministry.

On March 25, a director in the PMO dealing with telecom, Amit Agarwal, wrote to the DoT asking it to send a suitable reply to Swamy. Raja, subsequently, wrote to Swamy on June 18, 2009, stating that his demand was not justified.

With the Prime Minister yet to reply, Swamy sent reminders to Singh after the CBI registered an FIR in the matter. With the PMO having sought legal advice five months before the registration of the FIR, the subsequent letters by Swamy were also forwarded to the law ministry. Though Swamy had pointed to the CBI case to state that sanction was now a mere formality, the law ministry stated that since Swamy had himself the referred to the CBI probe, the Prime Minister should wait till evidence was collected by the agency.

A reply was, thereafter, sent to Swamy on March 19, 2010, stating the reason why a decision on his request was kept pending.

A bench comprising Justices G. S. Singhvi and A. K. Ganguly was informed during the hearing on November 16 that a decision on sanction had not been taken because the CBI was probing the matter. The court, however, noted that the CBI had registered an FIR about 11 months after Swamy sought sanction.

"Swamy sought sanction for filing a case on November 29, 2008, and the CBI registered an FIR against unknown persons only in October 2009…. What happened (in the PMO) during the 11 months in between," Justice Ganguly had asked.

After Swamy pointed out that the Supreme Court had set a deadline of three months for deciding a request for sanction, the bench observed the "alleged inaction and silence was troubling". With the bench questioning the silence by the Prime Minister, solicitor general Gopal Subramanium stated that he would be able to explain the reason for the delay only after looking into the files.

The court, thereafter, adjourned the matter to November 18 when Subramanium stated that all letters by Swamy concerning the 2G scam had been adequately dealt with by the Prime Minister. He said he had got the entire records which made it clear that they were dealt with responsibly and Swamy got responses. Swamy, however, objected saying he had got only one letter from the Prime Minister.

In further embarrassment to the Prime Minister, the court sought an affidavit on his behalf as the records could not be made available to Swamy for his response. A day after the hearing, the government asked attorney general G. E. Vahanvati to appear for the Prime Minister on November 23.

In order to strengthen the legal team further, the government is learnt to have requested senior counsel K. K. Venugopal to represent the CBI during the hearing of the case. Subramanium will continue to represent the DoT.

An empress of India in new clothes

An empress of India in new clothes

Like Sonia Gandhi, I am a Westerner and a brought-up Christian. Like Sonia Gandhi, I have lived in India many years and I have adopted this country as my own.

But the comparison ends there. I did land in India with a certain amount of prejudices, clichés and false ideas, and I did think in the enthusiasm of my youth to become a missionary to bring back Indian ‘pagans’ to the ‘true god’. But the moment I stepped in India I felt that there was nothing much that I could give to India, rather it was India which was bestowing me. In fact in all my years here India has given me so much — professionally, spiritually, sentimentally. Most Westerners, who come here, still think they are here to ‘give’ something to a country, which, unconsciously of course, they think is lesser than theirs. It was true of the British, it was true of Mother Teresa, it is true of Sonia Gandhi.

It is a fact that Sonia brought discipline, order and cohesion into the Indian National Congress. But the amount of power that she, a person of foreign origin, an elected MP like hundreds of others, possesses should frighten her. All the television channels report without a blink that Maharashtra CM rushes to Delhi to meet Sonia Gandhi to plead for his life. But should not Chavan have gone to the prime minister first?

The CBI blatantly and shamelessly quashed all injunctions against Ottavio Quattrocchi and even allowed him to get away with billions of rupees which he had stolen from India. Yet, without batting an eyelid, and with the Indian media turning a blind eye, it goes ruthlessly after the chief minister of the most efficiently run state, the most corruption free. Today the Congress, with Sonia’s overt or silent consent, pays crores of rupees to buy MPs to topple non-Congress governments. Her governors shamelessly hijack democracy by twisting the law.

Are Indians aware that their country has entered a state of semi-autocracy where every important decision comes from a single individual residing in her fortress of 10 Janpath surrounded by dozens of security men, an empress of India? Do they know that the huge amounts of the scams, whether the 2G, the CWG, or the Adarsh housing society scam, do not go into politicians’ pockets (only a fraction), but to the coffers of the Congress for the next general elections, and more than anything to please Sonia Gandhi? Nobody seems to notice what is happening under the reign of Sonia Gandhi.

That an Arundhati Roy is allowed to preach secession in India, whereas on the other hand the Congress government has been going after the army, the last body in India to uphold the time-honoured values of the Kshatriyas — courage, honour, devotion to the Motherland. They alone today practise true secularism, never differentiating between a Muslim or Hindu soldier and who for a pittance daily give their lives to their country. First it was the attempt of a caste census, a divide-and-rule ploy if there is one; then there are the first signs that the government is thinking about thinning down the presence of the Indian army in the Kashmir valley, which will suit Pakistan perfectly. And now there is the Adarsh housing society scam in which the army officers, at the worst, were innocently dragged into it. We know now that it was the politicians of the Congress who benefited the most out of it.

It would be impossible in France, for example, to have a non-Christian tell a Hindu (who is a non-elected president or PM) to be the absolute ruler of the country behind the scenes, superseding even the PM. There are many capable people in the Congress. Why can’t a billion Indians find one of their own, who will understand the complexity and subtlety of India, to govern themselves? Not only that, but her very presence at the top has unleashed forces, visible and invisible that are detrimental to the country. There is nothing wrong in espousing the best of the values of the West — democracy, technological perfection, higher standards of living — but many of the institutions are crumbling in the West: two out of three marriages end in divorce, kids shoot each other, parents are not cared for in their old age, depression is rampant and Westerners are actually looking for answers elsewhere, in India notably.

One does not understand this craze to Westernise India at all costs, while discarding its ancient values. Sonia Gandhi should do well to remember that there still are 850 million Hindus in India, a billion worldwide and that whatever good inputs were brought by different invasions, it is the ancient values of spirituality behind Hinduism which have made India so special and which gives it today unique qualities making an Indian Christian different from an American Christian, or an Indian Muslim different from a Saudi Muslim. It is an insult to these tolerant Hindus to show United States President Barack Obama as his first input of the Indian capital the tomb of Humayun, a man who slaughtered Hindus in thousands, taking Hindu women and children as captives. He even subjected his elder brother Kamran to brutal torture, gauging his eyes out and pouring lemon into them.

The tragedy of India is that it was colonised for too long. And unlike China, it always looks to the West for a solution to its problems. Sonia Gandhi, whatever her qualities, is just an incarnation of that hangover, an empress of India in new clothes.

Shekar meets Rahul, set to join Congress?

Comedian and Mylapore MLA S.Ve.Shekar, who has been hobnobbing with the DMK after raising a banner of revolt against AIADMK general secretary J. Jayalalithaa, met AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on Wednesday. He is likely to join the Congress soon.

"I expressed my willingness… [to join the party]," Mr Sekhar told Deccan Chronicle.
"I mailed my bio data to Mr Rahul Gandhi 20 days ago," he said. "I received a call last week. I met Rahulji
at his office in New Delhi today," he said, adding that they had a "one-to-one" session with the Congress general secretary for around eight minutes.

Mr Rahul enquired about the political situation in Tamil Nadu and alliance prospects for the ensuing Assembly elections, he pointed out, refusing to disclose which Dravidian major he had endorsed. "I was impressed by his professional approach and cordial nature," Mr Sekhar remarked and said that Mr Gandhi appeared to have read his profile and discussed with party general secretary in charge of Tamil Nadu Ghulam Nabi Azad.

Asked about him not joining the DMK even after announcing many times in the recent past that he would the ruling party, Mr Sekhar said, "Yes I did announce that earlier. I attended the DMK general council meeting on invitation, but they did not respond."

What Rajatthi Ammal got for keeping Maran away from Telecom dept.

Just one shred of what Karunanidhi's family gained in the Spectrum scam is being revealed here in the taped conversation between, Radia, Ratnam who is the auditor for Rajatthi ammal, the third wife of Karunanidhi and Rajathi Ammal herself. This information is part of an article on how Rattan Tata is not clean as he claims to be. The whole article can be read here:

http://indiasreport.com/magazine/data/is-ratan-tata-as-clean-as-he-claims-why-is-niira-radia-talking-to-karunanidhi%E2%80%99s-wife/

The taped conversation in which Rajatthi ammal appears is to do with a pay off by the Tatas, for her (Karunanidhi's) help in keeping Dayanidhi Maran off the Telecom department in the UPA II.

Let that be so. But in my opinion, that unholy dealing by Tata was in a way a reaction to the unholy way of functioning of Maran in UPA I.

Maran was totally autocratic in his stint in the Telecom Dept, doing everything for the SUN network owned by his brother (and Himself?). Genuine aspirants like the Tatas were kept off at that time. The corruption of Maran must also be brought out. When other business people were marginalized, they had waited for the time to keep Maran out and get things done for them. This war has been started by Maran. An article by Dr S. Gurumurthy in the Indian Express published on May 2, 2006 must be recalled here to know how Maran behaved those times. The article can be read here :

http://www.echarcha.com/forum/showthread.php?p=312603

The Tata's complicity in corruption at telecom can not be analyzed without bringing Maran also under the scanner.

********************

The conversation is between Ratnam, Chartered Accountant of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi's third wife Rajathiammal, Rajathiammal herself and Niira Radia. The conversation took place on June 13, 2009, more than three weeks after the UPA II Cabinet had been formed and A.Raja had been successfully planted as the Telecom Minister and Dayanidhi Maran, was kept out, as desired by Ratan Tata and also Mukesh Ambani, as conversations of Radia with others clearly indicate.

Following is the full text of the conversation between Ratnam/Rajathiammal and Niira Radia:

Ratnam to Radia: Hii morning Madam.

Radia to Ratnam: Hii, hii, uhh uhh

Ratnam to Radia: Madam(Rajathiammal, third "wife" of Karunanidhi and mother of DMK MP, Kanimozhi) baat karna chahti hai, de doon?

Radia to Ratnam: haan haan, please ok,(whispers to someone nearby— Karunanidhi ki patni)— call is being transferred, (she takes a deep breath) call connects— oh I am so sorry, hello how are you(very sweetly indulgent)?

Rajathi to Radia: Hello, I am fine, how are you(in english)?

Radia to Rajathi: I am so sorry, I have not been in touch, I am busy! How are you?

Rajathi to Radia: am fine.

Radia to Rajathi: Yeah, keeping better?

Rajathi to Radia: ummm

Radia to Rajathi: Good, good, good. How is CM(Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi)

Rajathi to Radia: (mumbles) aahhh, —ok.

Radia to Rajathi: (tone is still sweetly indulgent), good, Kani(Kanimozhi), Kani, I met last week, I didn't meet her this week. Kani is in Chennai?

Rajathi to Radia: ahh yes.

Radia to Rajathi: Shes come no? How are things?(Rajathi mumbles again, clear she is not comfortable talking English), good. How are things?

Rajathi to Radia: mumbles something inaudible

Radia to Rajathi: Haan?(silence for sometime)

Rajathi to Radia: what happened?

Radia to Rajathi: (voice turning anxious) to?

Rajathi to Radia: aaahh

Radia to Rajathi: Tata?

Rajathi to Radia: ah, yes

Radia to Rajathi: (very anxious)not done?

Rajathi to Radia: no, not done( voice low )

Radia to Rajathi: Ratnam is there?

Rajathi to Radia: Yes.

Radia to Rajathi: I will talk , let me speak to him. I thought it was all done

Rajathi to Radia: (voice low) yes, ummm( hands over to Ratnam)

Radia to Ratnam: Hi Ratnam( tone changes, more authoritative)

Ratnam to Radia: Hi Madam

Radia to Ratnam: What happened its not done?( anxious indignation in the voice)

Ratnam to Radia: No Madam, it s not done(??). I just give you a message, no madam.

Radia to Ratnam: I didn't get a message.

Ratnam to Radia: Madam?

Radia to Ratnam: I got a new mobile, I thought you got my mobile. You don't have my new mobile number?

Ratnam to Radia: I am talking to you on that mobile only na? Same mobile he(?) also tried no.

Radia to Ratnam: No, no, this is my regular mobile, the other one, my indicom, my indicom(she gives the number)

Ratnam to Radia: no, this(new number) has not been given to us.

Radia to Ratnam: I had told Cecilia(Personal assistant to Krishna Kumar, Director, Tata Sons, and one of key aides of Ratan Tata, and also Chairman, Tata Realty and Infrastructure Ltd.) last week itself.

Ratnam to Radia: You know Cecelia(?) is totally last one week , not in touch.

Radia to Ratnam: no, no, I will tell you why. Her mother's is in hospital.

Ratnam to Radia: yeah, that I know.

Radia to Ratnam: She's been very sick. So that's why Cecilia has been a little problematic.

Ratnam to Radia: ummm, ummmm. But you said no, you yourself has done.(Radia—yeah!), But that has not come. That's why I sent a message to you.

Radia to Ratnam: (short silence) I cant believe it, is it?(Ratnam—yeah madam, yeah madam) That can't be possible( anxiety in her voice)

Ratnam to Radia: No mam, it(?) has not come.

Radia to Ratnam: (short silence) What about Tatas? Whats happening on that?

Ratnam to Radia: Mam, Tata everything's ok, but this rent 50 percent, yesterday I got a mail, that's why yesterday also I tried you.(Radia—haan) This agreement, they say that 50 percent of the rent has to be paid by us. So I have already sent a mail to Krishna Kumar(Director, Tata Sons and key aide of Ratan Tata and Chairman, Tata Realty and Infrastructure Ltd.) stating that its not possible. Then I made a call to Krishna Kumar, he did not picked up(sic) and then I called Sanjay Ubhalia(Managing Director, Tata Realty and Infrastructure ltd) (Radia—haan). He says that he will take up the issue with Krishna Kumar and sort it out that(sic).

Radia to Ratnam: No, but when you were in Bombay, it was agreed that no rent and—

Ratnam to Radia: Everything was clearly agreed and Krishna Kumar also said that he will talk to Voltas(a Tata Group company) and he will waive that. But yesterday I tried ten times to call Krishna Kumar and he didn't pick up, and he was in a meeting it seems.

Radia to Ratnam: No, No yesterday there was a board meeting of Indian Hotels and the annual results were being announced, and also they were in the middle of buying Sea Rock Hotel in Bombay, you know? (Ratnam—ummm). So that's why it was very difficult to reach him yesterday.(Ratnam—-yeah, yeah)

Ratnam to Radia: yeah, yeah, that's why I called you , I want to tell you this yesterday.

Radia to Ratnam: No, I will speak to him, ahh Ratnam, I will speak to him Monday, because you know today he is not there, he has gone with the Chairman(Ratan Tata). I hope he hasn't gone, he was supposed to travel to the US today(Ratnam—who mam?), Krishna Kumar was supposed to travel to US today.

Ratnam to Radia: No mam, only one day, Thursday only he come back, na madam?

Radia to Ratnam: No, no, he has gone again. He is going with his Chairman today. (Ratnam— is it mam?), Yeah, yeah, he was scheduled to travel this morning by Air India(Ratnam—oh!), let me check, le me check. I will have a word with them. But then I am surrrprised!

Ratnam to Radia: Yes, Mam, that's why I am repeatedly calling Cecilia, and that mobile is totally switched off.

Radia to Ratnam: ummmmm ahhhh, let me talk to her. I will talk to her annnddd, you got my other number na?

Ratnam to Radia: I got your number, that number is what you are talking now na?

Radia to Ratnam: yeah, yeah, do me a favour Ratnam. Give me a missed on that number from your phone. (Ratnam— yeah, yeah) You don't have any other phone Ratnam?(Ratnam—I have Madam) Give me a missed call from that number na, which is— (gets disconnected)

The issue being discussed in this conversation becomes clear when one peruses the Internal evaluation report of the Directorate General of Income Tax

( see

http://indiasreport.com/magazine/data/the-radia-papers-raja-tata-ambani-connection/ )

wherein the report clearly states:

3. Tata through Voltas(a Tata group organisation) is in touch with Niira Radia and Ratnam, CA of (Rajathi)Ammal, wife of (Chief Minister) M.Karunanidhi,. They are apparently going to construct a building in Chennai on a land controlled by "TRIL" (Tata Realty and Infrastructure ltd.) with the Karunanidhi family as a payoff to DMK for keeping Maran out of Telecom(ministry).

What the Sarkaria Commission said

In the final report, the Sarkaria Commission came to the following conclusion on the allegations on the Veeranam scheme:

``It has been established that Shri. Karunanidhi, abusing his official position as Chief Minister, actuated with the motive to unduly favour Sathyanarayana Brothers with the award of the contract for the Veeranam project, directed the Chief Engineer, Shri. Hussain, to tailor his recommendations on the tenders in such a manner as would enable the Government to accept the tender of Sathyanarayana Bros....

''There is no doubt that Shri. Karunanidhi was interested in the contract being given to Sathyanarayana Bros. for some extraneous consideration. In this connection two circumstances have been firmly established: 1. Purushothaman's friendship with Maran and his exploiting this friendship to influence Karunanidhi and through him, Hussain; 2. The supply of materials worth about Rs. 59,202 by Purushothaman for construction of `Murasoli building' without accepting payment - a fact admitted by Maran himself.

``With regard to the alleged payment of illegal gratification of Rs. 29 lakhs in seven installments by Purushothaman to Karunanidhi, the story of Purushothaman is not such that it can be rejected breevi manu. But as he is admitted an accomplice, his evidence cannot be acted upon without corroboration in material particulars by independent evidence. The corroboration available is not adequate in extent and specificity and this evidence on record goes no further than establishing a preponderance of possibility, coming perilously close to probability, in favour of this charge. The charge of accepting illegal gratification has thus not been indubitably established against Shri. Karunanidhi.

''The decision to entrust the Veeranam project to M/s Sathyanarayana Bros. was undoubtedly a major administrative blunder. Huge advances were given to this firm, not covered by the contract agreement against simple indemnity bonds. The Accountant General has adversely commented on this.

``Public money to the extent of nearly Rs. 6 crores was squandered over this project and as rightly pointed out in the report of the Technical committee set up by the State Government, the project cannot now be brought to its successful conclusion, unless the foreign collaborators, M/S Vacrete, accept full responsibility for the manufacture, testing, laying and jointing of pipes.

To the public exchequer, it would mean an additional burden of several crores and to the public looking long for adequate water supply, a tortuous wait for at least two years more. The responsibility for this huge waste of public money must rest squarely on Shri Karunanidhi and Shri Sadiq Pasha.''

THE AGE OF DR. SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY HAS BEGUN

V. SUNDARAM I.A.S

DR.SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY

The famous Hindi poet Ramdhari Singh Dinakar once exclaimed in exasperation: “Singhasan Khaali Karo Ke Janata Aaati Hai”. These soul stirring words in Hindi were mobilized by the great revolutionary freedom fighter Jayprakash Narain when he led the myriad millions of India against the draconian dictatorship of Indira Gandhi during the dark days of Emergency during 1975-1977. Jayprakash Narain won the national democratic war against Indira Gandhi in 1977. During that period there was another revolutionary leader who was very young and who taught a salutary political lesson to Indira Gandhi. He displayed extraordinary courage against that singularly unscrupulous Congress Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, playing a singularly magnificent role in bringing her down from her high office in April 1977. After nearly 33 years, Dr Subramanian Swamy has again made history this morning (18-November 2010) in the Supreme Court of India.

Two years ago Dr Subramanian Swamy exposed the Himalayan corruption of DMK Party nominated Union Telecom Minister A. Raja in the 2g spectrum allocation scam by furnishing irrefutable documentary evidence to the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and sought the latter’s permission under the rulesto to prosecute Union Minister A. Raja. The Prime Minister sat over this letter like an obdurate low level baboo and took no action on Dr Swamy’s letter for several months. Subsequently Dr Swamy sent several letters reminding the Prime Minister about the Paramount Public Need for according sanction to prosecute Minister A. Raja. On each occasion Dr Swamy furnished newer and more and more unassailable documentary evidence to establish a prima facie case against the criminal misconduct of Minister A. Raja.

Only on two occasions, Dr Swamy received a letter from the Government during the last two years. After a lapse of more than one year, the Prime Minister sent a letter to Dr Swamy stating that the matter was being referred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Was it really the CBI or has it now become Congress Bureau of Intimidation? We have a saying in the government that no rumour is true until the government denies it and the Prime Minister has denied in public several times (in order to please his extra-Constitutional Italian colonial overlord) that the CBI is the Congress Bureau of Investigation!!! In the case of A. Raja’s spectrum fraud case alone, until the Supreme Court recently directed them to function in a clean manner, the CBI was functioning as SBI (Sonia Bureau of Intimidation)!!! My way of joking is to tell the truth! I derive my inspiration from the following lines of a great English poet:

“How happy is he born and taught,
That serveth not another’s will;
Whose armour is his honest thought,
And SIMPLE TRUTH his utmost skill.”

The second letter sent to Dr Swamy was from Union Minister Raja and that too after several months of inordinate delay. The joke about this letter is that Union Minister Raja had stated that the Prime Minister had chosen to forward to him the original letter of Dr Swamy seeking Prime Minister’s permission to prosecute Union Minister Raja! How could the Prime Minister forward Dr Swamy’s original letter addressed to him to the accused Minister Raja? That is why I say that the lawless law of the Firangi Memsahib overrides the Law of the Constitution!!

The Solicitor General of India Gopal Subramaniam --- nay the SABOTEUR GENERAL OF INDIA --- incorrectly informed the Supreme Court that the Prime Minister’s office had promptly sent reply letters to Dr Subramanian Swamy in respect of every letter received by them from him.

Dr Subramanian Swamy exposed the walkie-talkie fraud of Gopal Subramaniam when he told the open Court that Gopal Subramaniam was treating routine acknowledgement letters sent by the Prime Ministers Office (PMO) to him from time to time as documents of high state policy. Dr Subramanian Swamy had told the Court that these routine interim letters had not at all touched upon the substantive issue raised by him in his original letter to the Prime Minister.

To sum up, Dr Subramanian Swamy also invited the attention of the Supreme Court of India to the following points:

A. There was an astounding 11-month “silence” of the Prime Minister on Dr Swamy's public interest litigation seeking sanction to initiate proceedings against then Telecom Minister A. Raja over the 2G spectrum allocation.

B. Dr Swamy told the Supreme Court: “I am suggesting that Solicitor General is either embroidering or stretching the truth. He is taking even routine letters of acknowledgment of mail as substantive official replies”! Dr Swamy has dismissed as “lie” the claim by Solicitor-General Gopal Subramanium that Dr Manmohan Singh had replied to all the letters of Dr Swamy seeking sanction for prosecution against then Telecom Minister A Raja in the 2G spectrum scam.

C. Dr Swamy informed the Supreme Court that he had never received any “substantive” reply since Nov 29, 2008from the Prime Minister to his five letters, sent from time to time and on each occasion fortified with additional documents attached by way of clinching evidence against Raja.

D. Another communication was a letter from A. Raja, who resigned as communications and IT minister recently, addressed to Dr Swamy in December 2009. It stated that a copy of the representation that Dr Swamy had given to the Prime Minister seeking the prosecution of Minister Raja had been forwarded to him. Dr Swamy pointed out to the Supreme Court that this was “illegal”. How could Minister Raja be directed to reply when he figured as the prime accused in the original representation of Dr Swamy to the Prime Minister?

E. The Supreme Court of India has taken an exception to the 11-month “silence” of the Prime Minister on Dr Swamy's public interest litigation seeking sanction to initiate proceedings against then telecom minister A. Raja over the 2G spectrum allocation. The Supreme Court of India directed the Solicitor General to file a written affidavit on behalf of the Prime Minister in the Supreme Court on Saturday the 20th of November 2010. The Supreme Court is also reported to have observed: “We are asking for the PM’s affidavit because we want to know what has been the extent of the cover up in this case in the PM’s Office.”

The Italian woman ‘political’ thug Sonia Gandhi --- modelling herself like the 'most honest' President of Peru, Alberto Fujimori --- who is now the undisputed dictator of the Congress and through it the entire Indian nation has tried her best to black out from the media --- both print and electronic --- all the vital news relating to the legal and legitimate political battles of Dr Subramanian Swamy, being launched from time to time, in several Courts of Law with focus on the larger national good.

The otherwise supine and eminently purchasable Indian press is now scenting an epic political battle today, very much like the one waged in 1979 between Jayprakash Narain and the Congress (Hitler-like) dictator Indira Gandhi. That is why we are now seeing Dr Subramanian Swamy on all TV news channels round the clock. Like a pack of wolves’ scenting the blood of an injured prey and going after it with gusto, the Indian press is now going after the acts of high criminal venality of the Sonia Congress Party under the venal grip of the firangi dakait Sonia Gandhi. Though these cowardly men and women in the media do not have the guts to state this fact explicitly in their broadcast, yet all the enlightened citizens of India understand it fully. When a thing is well understood by the common people, it need not necessarily be underlined.

This morning, Friday 19-November-2010, the Prime Ministers Office has announced that Goolam Essaji Vahanvati, the Attorney General of India will now appear on behalf of the Prime Minister in the place of Gopal Subramaniam, the Solicitor General of India, in the on going case relating to A. Raja in the Supreme Court.

In these columns I have already paid my tributes to Gopal Subramaniam as The Saboteur General of India! The antecedents of Goolam Essaji Vahanvati are no better than those of Gopal Subramaniam. The Janata Party President Dr Subramaniam Swamy has stated today (Friday 19-November 2010): “I have no objection if Vahanvati defends the Prime Minister. But if he comes for the 2G case, then I have a problem”.

I know what Dr Subramanian Swamy has in mind. On December 26, 2007, the then Union Telecom Minister A. Raja had written to the Prime Minister to this effect: “I have already consulted the External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Solicitor General of India G.E Vahanavati and they have advised me that as a preemptive and proactive measure I can go ahead with the allocation of 2g Spectrum space immediately.” Having played an advisory part in this sordid scam, the most honourable course would be for G.E Vahanavati to recuse himself from talking in the Supreme Court on 2G Spectrum and the murky role of A. Raja.

Moreover, when a company called S Tel moved the Delhi High Court early in 2009, to set aside the arbitrary and criminal cut-off date of September 25, 2007 fixed by Union Minister A. Raja, the Delhi High Court gave a ruling in favour of S Tel and set aside the cut off date of September 25, 2007 in their orders passed in June 2009. In this case G.E Vahanavati had appeared on behalf of Department of Telecommunications (DOT) in his capacity as Attorney General of India. He had mislead the Delhi High Court by falsely stating in his affidavit that the Prime Minister had given his clearance to A. Raja in respect of every issue that was being raised by S Tel in the Delhi High Court. He had also kept the fact of the Prime Minister having instructed the Union Minister Raja to proceed cautiously in a matter after duly consulting the Union Ministries of Law and Finance, completely hidden from the view of the Delhi High Court.

Later when the DOT moved the Supreme Court on appeal against the orders of the Delhi High Court passed in favour of S Tel, G.E Vahanavati played a questionable role behind the scenes in making S Tel withdrawing their affidavit in the matter. I had written on this aspect of G.E Vahanavati’s nefarious role in an article titled ‘Maharajadiraja Dalit Raja Spectrum Fraud Outshines And Outclasses (Asatyam) Raju Satyam Fraud-III’ and published on May 29, 2010. I am quoting some excerpts from this article relating to the probity of G.E Vahanavati.

“On 10-March-2010 Attorney General Goolam E Vahanvati produced a letter from STel in the Supreme Court in which the telecom operator sought to buy peace with the Department of Telecommunications by saying they agreed to DoT policy on allotment of 2G spectrum.

“In these circumstances, we acknowledge the fact that our application has not been rejected and are now agreeable to the government considering our applications at the appropriate time. We acknowledge the fact that the decision of the government for giving UASL (unified access service licence) to those who applied up to September 25, 2007 was not arbitrary but based on likely availability of spectrum and administrative decision thereon,” Vahanvati said, reading aloud S Tel's communication.”

“Based on STel’s letter, the Communications Ministry wanted to withdraw its own appeal against the Delhi High Court judgment, but the Supreme Court did not allow the plea. THE ANNOYED BENCH ASKED WHY THE ATTORNEY GENERAL G.E VAHANVATI WAS SUBMITTING A LETTER FROM S-TEL ON THEIR BEHALF?”

“My Comment: G.E Vahanvati, appointed to the Constitutional post of Attorney General, is the Indian Government's chief legal advisor and its primary lawyer in the Supreme Court of India. I am shocked to see that he allowed himself to be seen discharging the function of an advocate of a private company like S-Tel to cover up the shady deal of Dalit Minister Raja. A disgraceful situation indeed! In UPA II Government he proved to be more powerful than the Central Vigilance Commission which had recommended the prosecution of Union Minister Dalit Raja in the matter of allotment of Spectrum G bandwidth.”

Exemplary and outstanding credentials indeed! The real truth is this irresponsible Attorney General stands for the privatization and commercialization of the exalted public office of the Attorney General of India! I am shocked to see that the office of the Prime Minister has chosen G.E Vahanavati to defend the Prime Minister in the Supreme Court in the 2g Spectrum fraud case.

Yesterday on Times Now TV Channel, Manish Tiwari, official spokesman for the Sonia Congress Party said that Dr Swamy should have first lodged a complaint with a Magistrate for holding an inquiry before approaching the Prime Minister of India for according sanction for the prosecution of the then Union Telecom Minister A. Raja in the 2g spectrum fraud case.

Dr Swamy has put this question to this pageboy of the Italian firangi Memsahib: “Why SC judges did not say so? Who is this Congress spokesperson who says so? No one has so far told me why I have come here straight without first lodging complaint with the magistrate. Those who do not know law would say so. Why should I complain to magistrate... I have completed all my investigations. I do not need it. I have everything (details of the case). Congress will do better if it removes Manish Tiwari from the post of spokesperson. I have the right to go to magistrate or a sessions judge for lodging a complaint and ask for issuing summons to Raja.”

I would only supplement Dr Swamy’s correct, wholly legal, appropriate and pointed observations by saying that Manish Tiwari’s 24X7 arajgari (a Sonia Congress Anarchist) consists in shamelessly declaring with secular anti-national fervour that the LAWLESS MAFIA LAW of the Extra-Constitutional Authority of the Italian Firangi Memsahib (which has the disastrous effect of reducing the highest Constitutional status of the Prime Minister of India to that of a Tenant-at-will of an Italian female mafia don) overrides the Law of the Indian Constitution.

Manish Tiwari’s daily prayer for wholesome and soul-elevating Sonia Congress servility seems to be this, today:

“Lead us from Mahatma Gandhi to Sonia Gandhi,
From Guru Gobind Singh to Dr Manmohan Singh,
From Rajaji to Karunanidhi,
From Manliness to Unmanliness,
From Communal Chastity to Secular Prostitution,
From Truth to Untruth,
From Democracy to Dictatorship,
From Courage to Cowardice,
From Liberty and Freedom to Servility and Slavery,
From Knowledge to Ignorance,
From Wisdom to Folly,
From Light to Darkness,
From Immortality to Sonia Congress Death!

The UPA II Government of the Italian Firangi Memsahib is stinking and sinking with corruption today. The highest constitutional authorities in the land --- the office of the President of India, the office of the Prime Minister of India, the office of the Chief Election Commissioner of India, the office of the Attorney General of India, and such other Constitutional authorities have been reduced to the level of subordinate offices of the Extra-Constitutional office of the Chairman of the UPA Co-Ordination Committee held by Sonia Gandhi. The party office of the Congress President and the office of the UPA Co-Ordination Committee are two sides of the same coin.

Right Hon’ble Justice Lord Moulton (1844-1921)

I would like to invite the attention of the supremely irresponsible and corrupt Men in authority at the highest level (taking their mysteriously immoral and concretely illegal hourly instructions from the office of the Chairman of the UPA Co-Ordination or Corruption Committee!?!??) to the following observations of the Right Hon’ble Justice Lord Moulton , one of the greatest judges England has produced, in 1920: “There are three great domains of Human Action. First comes the Domain of Positive Law, where our actions are prescribed by laws binding upon us which must be obeyed. Next comes the Domain of Free Choice, which includes all those actions as to which we enjoy complete freedom. But between these two Domains there is a third large and important Domain in which there Rules neither Positive Law nor Absolute Freedom. In that Domain there is no LAW which inexorably defines our course of action, and yet we feel we are not free to choose as we would. The degree of this sense of a lack of Complete Freedom in this Domain varies in every case. It grades from a conspicuousness of a DUTY NEARLY AS STRONG AS POSITIVE LAW, TO A FEELING THAT THE MATTER IS ALL BUT A QUESTION OF PERSONAL CHOICE. Some might wish to parcel out this Domain into separate countries, calling one, for instance, the DOMAIN OF DUTY, another the DOMAIN OF GOOD FORM, but I prefer to look at it all as ONE DOMAIN, for it has one and the same characteristics throughout --- it is THE DOMAIN OF OBEDIENCE TO THE UNENFORCEABLE. To my mind the real greatness of a nation, its true civilization, is measured by THE EXTENT OF THIS LAND OF OBEDIENCE TO THE UNENFORCEABLE.”

All the constitutional Authorities of India today have nothing but unconcealed contempt towards Obedience To The Unwritten Ethical And Moral Law Of The Unenforceable as defined by Justice Lord Moulton in the paragraph above. They are only committed to the cause of slavish and shameless obedience to the unconstitutional law of the Italian Firangi Memsahib!
